Character Project

So right now I'm in the middle of my character project, its a 3 week project and its main goal real is to teach as mudbox. Since I used mudbox on my final major character from last year I already know my way around the program but their are still new things I'm learning.
The character I choose to do is from the anime show Ghost in the Shell, his name is Batuo, I chose to do this character as I'm a big fan of the show and its actually this show that got me into the whole anime genre.
The model is done and right now I'm in mudbox working all the final touches, I also wanted him to have a prop and so I decided to model this P90.

Razor

Hey guys so here are a couple of designs that I've drawn up for this project that I'm working on outside of uni. Like I said before its all very much hush hush right about now so I can't go into too much detail about it. What I can say though is that I'm having a great time working on it and I can't wait to see the final result.

Final Major: Environment

For my final major I've decided that I wanted to do an environment, and after much thought I decided to do somewhere that had a renasissance style to it. I particually looked at Florence Italy and Venice and did have my mind set on a scene in Florence but then I decided to go with Venice instead a do one of the Cananls.
After pitching the idea to my tutors it became obvious that the idea of the environment was starting to dive to much into the style of the game Assassins Creed 2, so because of this I have decided to set the scene in the future. By doing this it allows me to have more control over the scene.
The idea to set it in the future also means that I can be a bit more creative so an idea I had was to make the gondolas being rowed by a robot and not by a human.

Maya Project: Environment

Hey guys, probably been quite a some time since I last updated the blog so I thought I better get on it soon or other wise I wouldn't updated at all.
So I'm back in Uni in my 3rd year, still do the Artistic side of the subject and still loving it. Right now I'm working on my pre-production for my two personal projects in which I making an environment and a vehicle, and my two colabrative projects for a VFX movie that my two friends Joe and Aled are making. My other colabrative project is helping some guys outside of uni but the project is very hush hush so I can't go into too much detail about it.

As this is my first entry for the 3rd year, I thought I would put up the first project we did. The aim of this project was to create an environment, so I decided to create an abandon warehouse that could be use in a multiplayer game, mainly a shot-em up. As well as that we also had to use Maya which it being a program I never used before, and since the project was only 3 weeks long (with the first week being pre-production) trying to learn it in 2 weeks was a bit of challenge but I did get their in the end. Overall I'm not sure whether or not I was pleased with the outcome of this project, and I think that's why I decided to create another environment for my final major just because I know I'm going to have alot more time to work on it.
Later on I will post some of my pre-production designs for my Final Major

Back from the US

Hey guys so I got back from the USA sometime last week and since then I havn't done any modelling. However today I decided to get some practice in and do a watch. The model is finished and I have started to texture it, it just needs a bit more tweaking which I plan to do tommorrow.
I havn't forgotten about my Submarine Project which hopefully I will be getting back into soon.

Lighting Project

Hey guys so here's another project that I did in my second year, all to do with Lighting. The aim of the project was to create a room and basically light it. We had to do different times of the day, so one for dawn, daylight, dusk and night.
All the stuff in the room wasn't model by myself, it was actually models that I downloaded of the web, since our main object was only to do with lighting an environment and how to make it look good.
I did learn alot from this project as it did teach me how using light in a scene can make the environment seem more believable, and its something that I'am going to be incorporating into my work when the time is needed.

Minor Project

While I am still working on my submarine project I decided to post some of my old work the I did in my second year of Uni. This project I believe was the first project I did as a CG Artist, the aim of the project was to create two crates and two barrles.
For the first crate I decided to go with a WW2 era, hence the bullet holes in the crate and the dust and cobwebs to give it the look of it being old.
I wanted to make the second crate look more futuristic, hence the more metalic look and neon lights.
As for the barrels I decided to do on traditional wine barrel and a toxic oil drum.
Out of all of them, I think I was more pleased with the WW2 crate, probably because It was the one I had the most fun making.

Submarine update

Just finished of the model for my submarine, I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. I've still got some more work to do on the texturing, and I will probably be making the environment look a bit better then what it is right now.

Submarine

Hey guys, so last night I watched the first episode of BBC's new drama "The Deep", I found it to be quite interesting and will probably keep watching it. What I really liked about the show was the way they showed the scenes underwater especially with the submarine. So I decided to model my own submarine.

I actually started to model one last night, but in the morning I decided to delete it since it was starting to look too much like something from space, I also wanted my Submarine to seem as if it could really be made (like they did in "The Deep") and so I went back a re-moddelled it.

I have the structure, its Un-wrapped and I've done some projection mapping on it as well. I also plan to do some more modelling just get some little details in their that will make it look nice.

Im away on Holiday in about 2 weeks time so I'm hoping to have it finished by then.
